Business Ecosystem

Since 2017 Latvia is providing significant support to the startup movement by creating appropriate infrastructure, ecosystem and international events. Thus, Law on Aid for Startup Companies was released increasing the activity of startups. By doing exchange in Latvia you have a great chance to fully enjoy startup ecosystem. Moreover, during the stay New Entrepreneur will be able to attend business, startup, technologies and entrepreneurship-related events, conferences and seminars held in English since there are plenty of business-related associations taking care of international startup ecosystem. Within NE's mobility, there is a chance to participate in international competitions, hackatons and accelerators to broaden the perspective of one's business idea.  According to the research ran by Latvian Investment and Development Agency, these are the sectors Latvia has a significant expertise in - woodworking, metalworking and mechanical engineering, transport and storage, information technology (including global business services), green technology, health care, life science and food processing.

BA School of Business and Finance

BA School of Business and Finance is one of Startup2 project partner in Latvia. BA SBF was founded in 1992 as Banking College under the Bank of Latvia and in 1997 it was accredited as Higher Educational Institution, today known as BA School of Business and Finance offering studies to 1493 students. In 2017 BA School of Business and Finance celebrated its 25th anniversary. BASBF is proud of its 10333 alumni. BA SBF is preparing highest level Financial, Insurance and Business Administration specialists and Entrepreneurs for both local and international job market.

Business Incubator

Business Incubator is a place for students and alumni of BA SBF where ideas are generated, inspiring discussions are held, support is provided and entrepreneurial experiences are shared. The Business Incubator is there to help in the very early development stage of the business idea to develop it in the next few months and prepare for entering the market. Incubation process has a crucial role in one's entrepreneurial path since doubts regarding legislation, marketing, business development and finances are covered. BA SBF Business Incubator is the only one in Latvia offering its members an opportunity to gain international experience for a further development of their business idea by taking part in Erasmus for Young entrepreneurs.

  

Who are our Host Entrepreneurs?

Mainly our host entrepreneurs are located in Riga, the capital of Latvia with 641,423 (2017) inhabitants. In the past years, Riga has become a central place for entrepreneurial and startup-related activities. BA SBF is actively working on involving the greatest possible variety of Host Entrepreneurs to participate in Erasmus for young entrepreneurs mobility. Asked what HE expects from the exchange, the common reply is motivation, interest in the field and willingness to learn and share competencies as well as potential for future cooperation. BA SBF is cooperating with HEs in such business sectors as, marketing, promotion and advertising, architecture and construction, manufacturing, business consultancy, fashion, design, e-commerce, education and training, IT services and a lot more according to interests of both NE and HE.
