Morgane Masterman completed her learning adventure in Germany

Period of Exchange: 07/07/2018 –  07/12/2018
Duration of Exchange: 5 months
Country: Germany

Living in Portugal, Morgane is a 29 years old young entrepreneur in the non-formal education area. In search for an exchange experience, she learned about the Erasmus program for Young Entrepreneurs through ANJE - Portuguese Association of Young Entrepreneurs, one of the contact points  with the initiative. At the end of the application process, she eventually went to Germany to work for five months at Schoolclash, a company owned by Dennis Fraters, the Host Entrepreneur.

Dennis and Morgane already knew each other from previous networking events, having cooperated when Morgane worked for another organization. For that reason, they had already discussed shadow work and other ways of learning from each other. Both work in a similar field, so they share many methods and values. However, they explain that the specificities of the contexts and the target audience create differences, which leads them to be curious about confronting new methods and reflecting on professional practices.

Dennis says the project has hosted several groups of Dutch schools that have already come to Berlin. They also organize an Erasmus + youth exchange in Georgia and a Franco-German-Tunisian Youth Exchange funded by the Franco-German Youth Office. They also participate in local events and took advantage of those moments to reflect on the practices and strategies for Schoolclash and the Flying Spark Association.

Both claim that the experience of working together went very well as they exchanged impressions and knowledge that helped improve both businesses. The pair submitted an application for Erasmus + projects, for which they want to work together and establish a partnership.

Language skills were also developed (French, Dutch, English and German), and learning in complex contexts in several countries (Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands and France) was also an asset.

The two participants in the Erasmus For Young Entrepreneurs program have benefited from feedback exchanges, allowing them to reflect on professional practices and how to make them more efficient. The experience allowed both Dennis and Morgane to growth in a professionally way.

WORDS OF MORGANE MASTERMAN ABOUT HER EXPERIENCE

It was really inspiring to work with Dennis at Schoolclash. I learned so much about our line of work and how to apply methods in different contexts, but I also had the opportunity to reflect a lot on team management and how to build healthy, sustainable cooperations.
